Some aches are a normal part of pregnancy. Being miserable every day is not. If back, hip, or pelvic pain is limiting what you can do, safe, hands-on care can help throughout every trimester.
Your body changes fast during pregnancy, and not every change happens gracefully. Shifting posture, loosening joints, and a growing uterus all place new demands on your back, hips, and pelvis. Understanding what is actually causing your pain is the first step to treating it safely.

As your belly grows, your posture changes to compensate, and your low back curves to keep you balanced. That extra curve puts more load on the joints and muscles of your spine, which is a common source of low back pain as pregnancy progresses.
Your body releases the hormone relaxin during pregnancy to help your pelvis prepare for delivery. It also loosens ligaments throughout your body, which can leave your low back, hips, and pelvis feeling less stable and more prone to strain.
The joints that connect your pelvis, including the sacroiliac joints, can become painful as they loosen and take on more load. This often shows up as a deep ache in the low back or buttock, or pain when walking, climbing stairs, or turning over in bed.
The round ligaments support your uterus and stretch as it grows. Quick movements like standing up, coughing, or rolling over can cause a sharp, brief pain in the lower belly or groin. It is common and usually not a cause for concern, but it can be uncomfortable.
Pressure from the growing uterus, combined with postural changes, can irritate the sciatic nerve and send pain down through the buttock and leg. The right combination of movement and hands-on treatment can relieve pressure and calm the irritation.
Later in pregnancy, your growing uterus can push up under your rib cage, causing pain or a feeling of pressure in your ribs and upper back, especially with deep breaths. Gentle mobility work and postural adjustments can ease the discomfort.

Minor aches are a normal part of pregnancy. Being miserable every day is not, and it does not have to be your only option. A skilled physical therapist finds the real source of your pain, not just the symptom, through a hands-on evaluation, then builds a plan that is safe and appropriate for every stage of your pregnancy. That means hands-on treatment to relieve pressure and pain, along with the right exercises, not a generic routine, to support your changing body as it prepares for delivery. The plan adjusts as your pregnancy progresses, so the care you get in your second trimester looks different from what you need in your third. The goal is not just less pain today. It is a pregnancy where discomfort is not deciding what your days look like.
Your first visit is a full evaluation of your pain, your posture, and how far along you are, so the plan fits exactly where you are in your pregnancy. You leave with a clear explanation of what is driving your symptoms.
